Drewry of Capron, died in Richmond Thursday, May 6, after a short illness. Mr. Drewry was born in Lacrosse December 2, 1896, but spent much of his early life in Southampton County. For many years he was with various concerns in the stock brokerage business in New York City. He had, however, been associated with Abbot, Proctor and Payne in Richmond, since November, 1942. He married Mrs. Jean Byram of New York, May 31, 1930. They had one daughter, Shirley Jean, both of whom survived him. Besides his wife and daughter and a step-daughter, Earlita, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Drewry of Capron; two sisters, Miss Helen Drewry of Capron and Mrs. T.C. Lassiter of Windsor, N.C., and one brother, Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry of Springfield, Mass. Funeral services were conducted at the grave in the Capron Cemetery May 8 at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. R.H. Marks officiated, assisted by the Rev. L.D. Stables and the Rev. L.F. Callaham of Boykins. Pallbearers were T.C. Lassister, S.E. Pope, L.R. Magee, J. Irving Baker, V.S. Pittman, G.A. Lankford, T.D. Gardner and W.H. Story.
