Mr. Everett, a native of Southampton County, owned H.D. Everett & Son General Merchandise, Joyner. He was a member and trustee of Joyner United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice Avent Everett; a daughter, Rubie E. Drake, and a son, H.D. Everett Jr., both of Joyner; two sisters, Bessie E. Avent of Charlottesville and Annie V. Everett of Joyner; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Saturday in Joyner Methodist Church by the Rev. D. Glen Langston. Burial was in Capron Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin handled the arrangements.
