EZELL Mr. Luther Arnold Ezell of the Drewryville community and one of our most esteemed citizens died at his home near Peete's church May 15, 1918, in his sixty-first year. He had been in failing health for five years, and was confined to his room eleven weeks before the messenger of God came and whispered in his ear, "Come up higher". It was then he closed his eyes as tho' he had lain down to sleep. He bore his affliction with that fortitude characteristic of a trusting child of God. It can be truly said of him that no motive caused him to turn from the "Straight and narrow way". He always emulated the Golden Rule. There was no malice in his heart towards anyone. He was a consistent member of Peete's M.E. Church for twenty-three years, and attended regularly until declining health prevented. He was married to Miss Lucy Smith, the daughter of the late J.D. Smith, and is survived by her and by six children, Reuben, Ruth, Joseph, Floyd, Mamie and Raymond. The body was laid to rest in the family buring ground on the Hall farm, and at his request the simple burial service of the church he loved so well was conducted by his lifelong friend, R.A. Pope, assisted by Rev. J.W. Marsh, his beloved pastor. The pallbearers were, D.E. Starke, J.A. Thompson, J.D. Brown, R.A. Pope, T.R. Ricks and Joshua Leigh, who lowered all that was mortal of him beneath the silent clods to await the resurrection morn.
