MOORE DAUGHTREY EDWARDS Mrs. Annie E. Daughtrey Edwards, aged 81, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M.R. Reid, 517 West Twenty-sixth street, yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock, after an illness of six weeks. She was a native of Southampton County and had been resident of Norfolk for 33 years. She was the daughter of Orris and Martha Beale Moore and, in addition to Mrs. Reid, is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. J.M. Beale, Franklin, and Mrs. E.S. Gilliam, Norfolk; four sons, R.T. Daughtrey, Wakefield; J.H. and R.H. Daughtrey, Norfolk, and E.B. Daughtrey, Bayboro, N.C.; four brothers, C.S. Moore, Charlottesville; H.A. Moore, Boykins; W.E. Moore, Hansom, and C.C. Moore, Adam's Grove; 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a member of Christian Temple. Funeral services for Mrs. Edwards will be conducted at the Reid residence tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock, with the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle, pastor of Christian Temple, officiating. M.Reg. #59; MB2:288) The son of Joshua & Priscilla (HOLLAND) DAUGHTREY, civilian, Joseph was a Confederate veteran, having served in Co. I, 13th VA Cavalry, rising from private to 4th corporal. The regimental history gives Joseph P., Co. A (p. 73); the post-war list gives J.I., Co. I (p. 109). He was WIA 28 Jun 1864 at Sapony Church, and was paroled 25 Apr 1865 in Isle of Wight Co. He died 16 Sep 1901 in Isle of Wight Co. of dysentery. Annie applied for a pension 13 Sep 1924 in Norfolk. Their son Romie Hamden DAUGHTREY applied to the War Department for a headstone for Joseph in 1932, to be shipped to Norfolk. She 2m. widower John Armstrong EDWARDS (1865 - 1939) 29 Jan 1919 in Norfolk; they div. 31 Jul 1923 in Norfolk. He is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth. The 1900 Census - Windsor Dist., Isle of Wight Co. - gives b. Aug 1856; 7 of 9 children surviving; Owned Mortgaged Farm #212. The 1910 Census - 624 W. Brambleton Ave., Norfolk - gives age 54 (b. ca. 1856).
