BERNICE LEE EDWARDS Mrs. Bernice Lee Edwards, wife of Mr. Bennett Edwards, died at her home near Courtland October 15, 1918, in her 35th year. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Branch and Mrs. Susie S. Branch of Franklin, who survives her. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Screws and Mrs. F.L. Whitley of Franklin and Mrs. L.B. Edwards of Sedley, who is also very ill at this time, and she was the sister of the late Mrs. G.M. Gray of Franklin, whom she survived only one week; three brothers, R.C., G.W. and W.M. Branch, all of Franklin; her husband and seven children, the oldest being fourteen years and the youngest only 5 months. She was a loving, energetic-wife and was always bright and cheerful in her humble home, and was beloved by all who know her. She was a good Christian mother and a member of Black Creek Baptist church. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery, Courtland, with services at the grave by Rev. W.L. Burks, and her favorite hymns were sung, "Fade, Fade, Ye Earthly Light" and "Nearer My God to Thee", by the Methodist choir of Courtland. The pallbearers were; L.L. Manry, Jr., E.F. Gray, B.G. Carr, F.L. Whitley, Mr. Pollard and Mr. Buck Edwards. Many friends and relatives were present to pay their last tribute of respect to her memory and by the many beautiful floral tributes which were placed on the grave.
