CARL FRANKLIN EDWARDS

   JOYNER - Carl Franklin Edwards, Sr., 80, a retired farmer, died March 3, in 
a Norfolk hospital.

   Mr. Edwards, a Southampton County native, is survived by his wife, Julia 
Joyner Edwards; three daughters, Shelvia E. Harrell of Joyner, Phyllis Beville 
of Stony Creek and Barbara Story of Newsoms; two sons, Carl F. Edwards Jr. and 
Sidney R. Edwards, both of Capron; two sisters, Lucy Blood of Richmond and 
Betty Worrell of Courtland; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

   The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in McDowell Funeral Home, 
Boykins, by the Revs. Glen Langston and Kenneth Williams.  Burial will be at 
the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today.  Memorial donations may be made 
to Capron Rescue Squad.
