Mrs. Edward's Funeral Wed. In Franklin 

  FRANKLIN - Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Cole Edwards of Portsmouth will 
be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland Funeral 
Home.  Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley. 

  Mrs. Edwards, the wife of Lloyd A. Edwards, a former Franklin resident who 
is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Edwards, died Monday in Portsmouth 
after a brief illness.  She was the daughter of James and Mrs. Minnie Holder 
Cole of Goldsboro, N.C. 

  She was born in Goldsboro and lived in Virginia 30 years.  She was a member 
of Port Norfolk Baptist Church. 

  Besides her husband, surviving are a son, Hugh Manning Edwards of Brooklyn; 
a daughter, Mrs. Minnie O'Neil of Wichita Falls, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. 
Gertrude Trueblood of Goldsboro, Mrs. Samuel F. Taylor of Raleigh, Mrs. Vivian 
Brooks of Grimesland, N.C., and Mrs. Lula Mae Walters of LaGrange, N.C.; three 
grandchildren; and stepmother, Mrs. Lucy Cole of Goldsboro.

She 1m. Hubert Blanchard MANNING (1897 - 1947) 22 Sep 1921 in Wayne Co., NC; 
   they must have div. between 1940 & 1943.  He is buried with his second wife 
   in Westview Cemetery, Kinston, Lenoir Co., NC. 

She 2m. Lloyd 25 Jun 1943 in Hampton.  M.Cert. 15778 (Elizabeth City Co.) 
   gives as single; her father-in-law is mistakenly given as Luther Henry. 

Her parents, James William & Minnie Inez (HOLDER) COLE, are buried in 
   Willow Dale Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.
