FRED DAVID EDWARDS

   Fred David Edwards, 60, died Thursday afternoon in a Franklin hospital after 
a short illness.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Essie Mae Vinson Edwards and a son of the late 
Silas and Mrs. Sarah Whitley Edwards of Hertford County, N.C.

   A native of Herford County, he lived in Franklin 32 years.

   He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a member of its Bruner Bible 
Class.

   Surviving besides his widow are a son, Dr. Robert G. Edwards of Norfolk; two 
brothers Roger D. Edwards of Franklin and Bennie Edwards of Norfolk; and a 
sister, Mrs. Rennie Mae Vinson of Seaboard, N.C.

   A funeral service was conducted in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home 
Saturday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church. 
Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were: William Edwards, Dennis Brett, Vernon Edwards, Howard 
Jones, Arthur Smith, Roger Drake, Randolph Whitley and T.C. Holland, Jr.
