Hudgins and the Rev. Robert D. Fridley. W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were J.R. Howerton, Dennis L. Brett, Marion Whitfield, J. Felton Johnson, G.E. Pillow, Robert A. Vaughan, J.E. Wright and Dr. Leroy Smith. Edwards, 63, a peanut buyer and sportsman, died Wednesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Franklin, he was the husband of Mrs. Hazel Evans Edwards and a son of Walter W. and Mrs. Manetta Gardner Edwards. He was a buyer for Birdsong Storage Co., Pretlow Division, and worked for the company 45 years. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a past president of its Bruner Baptist Church, a charter member and a past president of Franklin Lions Club, a charter member of a past president of Franklin Cotillion Club, and a member of Camp P.D. Hunt Club, Tidewater Beagle Club, Sawdust Hunt Club, Pheasant Pluckers International Club, and Cypress Cove Country Club. Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. T.W. Joseph of Winston Salem, N.C., and Mrs. D.E. Bradshaw of Manassas; a brother, Roy Edwards of Franklin; and a granddaughter.
