All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSEPH WARREN EDWARDS Joseph Warren Edwards, 80, lifelong resident of Southampton County, died Monday morning, November 5, in Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of more than four weeks. Mr. Edwards, who was employed by the State of Virginia before retiring four years ago, was the husband of Mrs. Annie Rebecca Williams Edwards of Courtland and the son of the late Newit and Elizabeth Screws Edwards of Southampton County. He was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hyla Edwards Whitfield of Courtland and Mrs. Virginia Edwards Vick of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Thomas E. Bass, Jr., of Ashland, Mrs. William E. McKim of Orlando, Fla., and Miss Cynthia Vick of Norfolk; two brothers, B.L. Edwards, Sr., of Courtland and L.T. Edwards, Sr. of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. C.A. McCormick, Jr., pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.
