Edwards, a well-known resident of the Sycamore community, this county, died January 7th, at the home of his son, Jim Edwards, near Como, N.C. Mr. Edwards was 87* years old and had spent the greater part of his life in the Sycamore neighborhood, being one of the charter members of Sycamore Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J.E. Whitley of Como, Mrs. J.C. Whitfield of Handsom and Mrs. C.R. Lundquist of Newsoms; three sons, J.W. Edwards of Como, P.T. Edwards of Courtland and B.F. Edwards of Franklin; and 43 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted from Sycamore Baptist Church by the pastor of Como Baptist Church, Rev. J.L. Price, the choir sang, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "Asleep in Jesus" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Burial was held in the church cemetery. The body bearers were selected from his grandsons; Sam Edwards, Marvin Edwards, Jim Whitley, Joe Whitley, Raiford Whitfield, Carson Whitley, Charlie Whitfield and Fletcher Edwards. "Joe" Joseph S.
