JAMES RIDDICK EDWARDS

   James Riddick Edwards died at his home in Bogart Avenue Friday morning at 
9:30 in his 64th year. He was the son of the late Mills Riddick Edwards and Mrs. 
Sue Bowden Edwards, of Isle of Wight County, and moved to Franklin many years 
ago.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Ezelle Edwards; two children, Mamie 
Ruth and J. Riddick Edwards, Jr., all of Franklin, three sisters, Mrs. L.E. 
Holloway of Newport News, Mrs. John M. Smith of Chevy Chase, Md., and Mrs. G.C. 
Brothers of Whaleyville; three brothers, J.E. Edwards of Whaleyville, Tyler and 
L.M. Edwards of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Sycamore Baptist 
Church by Rev. R.D. Stephenson assisted by Rev. Roscoe Jones. Interment in the 
church cemetery.

   The active pallbearers were: W.H. Lankford, W.O. Bristow, Barclay Pretlow, 
R.I. Beale, J.L. Harcum, R.C. Branch, Ryland Camp and Elmer Bradshaw; honorary: 
Dr. R.L. Raiford, Jimmie Gardner, Richmond Peters, W.T. Taylor, G.C. Hill, B.A. 
Brooks, C.F. Whitfield, George Watkins, Dr. R.H. Cobb, F. R. Day, Leland 
Fleetwood, J.F. Duke, R.C. Councill and J.W. Beale.
