A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Newett and Elizabeth Screws Edwards and a member of Mt. Horeb Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elma Britt Edwards, five sons, Cecil Edwards, Bobby Edwards, L.T. Edwards and William Edwards of Franklin and Marvin Edwards of Norfolk; five daughters, Miss Martha Edwards and Mrs. Katherine Edwards Weaver of Franklin, Mrs. Grace Edwards Whitfield of Handsom, Mrs. Mamie E. Edwards Wilson of Petersburg and Mrs. Bessie Edwards Shelton of Norfolk, a brother, Bennett Edwards of Courtland, six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted today at the Holland Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m. by the Rev. James B. Douglas, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. ? F. Smith, pastor of Newsoms Baptist Church and the Rev. O.L. Gochenour, pastor of the Newsoms Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
