She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Mrs. India Hatfield Griffin and wife of the late William F. Edwards. She was a native of Southampton County and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Lois M. Lewis of Norfolk and Mrs. Hazel Carr of Bowers Hill; a granddaughter, Mrs. Marian Carroll of Baton Rouge, La.; a grandson, Wayne Lewis of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Hunter Blythe of Franklin, Mrs. Bernice Carter of Walters, Isle of Wight County, and Mrs. Odell Spivey of Smithfield. The body has been taken to the Holland Funeral Home in Franklin pending funeral arrangements. ****************************************************************************** MRS. LULA G. EDWARDS Mrs. Lula Griffin Edwards, 67, a former resident of the Black Creek community, Southampton County, died Thursday February 28, at 3:55 p.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a short illness. She had been making her home in Norfolk with her daughter, Mrs. Lois M. Lewis. Mrs. Edwards was the widow of William Fletcher Edwards and the daughter of the late William Henry and Mrs. India Hatfield Griffin. She was a native of Southampton County and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. In addition to Mrs. Lewis, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Hazel Carr of Bowers Hill; a granddaughter, Mrs. Marian Carroll of Baton Rouge, La; a grandson, Wayne Lewis of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Hunter Blythe of Franklin, Mrs. Bernice Carter of Walters and Mrs. Odell Spivey of Smithfield. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Len B. Allen, pastor, and Rev. W.C. Norcum, pastor of the Indiana Methodist Church, Portsmouth, officiating. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Active pallbearers were Edward Blythe, D.C. Blythe, Kelly Blythe, Cecil Edwards. E.S.
