MARGARET BEALE EDWARDS

   Mrs. Margaret Beale Edwards died Wednesday morning, August 8, at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. R.A. Bunn, of Boykins at the age of 75 years after an 
illness of about three weeks.  She was the daughter of the late Etheldred and 
Mrs. Sallie Barnes Beale, and widow of the late John Thomas Edwards.

   She was a lifelong member of Mt. Horeb church on the Newsoms charge, except 
for a short period of years when she joined Broad Street Methodist Church in 
Richmond.  Funeral services were conducted form the R.W. Baker & Company 
Funeral Home, Suffolk, Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock by her pastor, Rev. 
J.W. Morrison.  Mrs. Claudia Jacobs of Suffolk sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and 
"In the Garden," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye: was read at the grave.  Burial 
took place in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.  There were numerous and 
beautiful floral offerings.

   She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R.A. Bunn of Boykins, Mrs. H.O. 
Atkinson of Richmond, Mrs. O.H. Bland of Suffolk; one son, J. Linwood Edwards, 
of Franklin; one brother, H.P. Beale, of Courtland; three grandchildren, Miss 
Marguerite Bunn of Boykins; Mrs. H.C. Berkley of Richmond; and J. Linwood 
Edwards, Jr., of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.  Active pallbearers 
were Hubert, Floyd and John Beale, E. Beale Carter, G. Ryland Fowler, William 
A. Bell, Stanley Rogers and Wallace Gwaltney.
