GARDNER EDWARDS Mrs. Manetta Gardner Edwards, wife of W.W. Edwards of this town, died at her home in First avenue Friday, January 13, after a long illness which she had borne with patience and unmurmuring resignation. The deceased was in her fiftieth year and was the daughter of the late Ezra J. and Elvira Anne Gardner of Courtland. On November 11, 1896 she was united in marriage with W.W. Edwards and for seven years thereafter they made their home in the Berlin community. Eighteen years ago the family moved to Franklin where they have lived and been useful and favorably known citizen of our town. Besides her bereaved husband, Mrs. Edwards is survived by three sons, Gardner T., Roy and Herbert Edwards, all of this place, and two sisters, Miss Margaret O. Gardner of Franklin and Mrs. W.H. Spear of Kinston, N.C. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, January 14, at 2 o'clock by her Pastor, Rev. M.A. Maclean, assisted by Rev. C.W. Scarborough, interment following in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were: active, R.E.L. Watkins, W.H. Lankford, E. Frank Story, C.F. Whitfield, R.C. Campbell, S.R. Nicholson, J.F. Bryant, Jr., J.A. Johnson; honorary, C.E. Pond, G.T. Caroon, G.H. Beale, M.E. Lawrence, P.D. Camp, A.W. Hayes, F.E. Howell, W.E. Smith, J.E. Edwards, Tyler Edwards, L.M. Edwards, J.
