She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and a member of the Home department of that Sunday school. Although unable for a number of years, to attend regularly the services of her church, whe was true to the faith and an earnest, consecrated Christian. She was the oldest member of a family of seven, four girls and three boys, and was 20 years of age when the Civil War began. The three brother, Joseph, William and Aurelius, and two cousins William Vaughan and Frank Edwards, were called from this home to fight for their country, three of whom shed their life’s blood upon the battlefield, only two, William and Aurelius, returning. At the latter part of the war the father was called to fight, thus leaving the responsibilities and duties of the home in the hands of Miss Priscilla. Those who knew her in those days can testify to the fact that many were the hardships and many the heartaches she endured for the cause. The funeral services, conducted by the Rev. J.R. Johnson of the Courtland Baptist church, took place at the home Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock and the body was laid to rest in the family graveyard. By special request of the sisters, her favorite song, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," was sung at the open grave. Many friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect and the flowers places upon her grave were indicative, in part, of the high esteem in which she was held. The following acted as pallbearers: active, W.E. Edwards, H.C. Edwards, R.E. Edwards, J.H. Edwards, F.T. Ricks and Tyler Edwards; honorary M.H. Moore, E. Frank Story, L.W. Vaughan, Jas. Holcombe, A.L. Gardner, J.B. Vaughan, J.Tom Butler and Bennett Edwards. The deceased is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Griffin, Mrs. J.O. Speight of this county and Mrs. Wm. G. Edwards of Suffolk, besides a number of nieces and nephews.
