PAUL THOMAS EDWARDS

   BOYKINS - Paul Thomas Edwards Sr., 78*, died in a Franklin hospital early 
Thursday.

   A native of Southampton County, he lived in Portsmouth 14 years before 
returning to the county to live.  He was a son of Joseph S. and Mrs. Mollie 
Turner Edwards.  He was a retired farmer and a member of Boykins Baptist 
Church.

   Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Zelma Bradshaw Edwards; two sons, Paul T. 
Edwards Jr., of Portsmouth and Adrian Edwards of Miami; a daughter, Mrs. 
Sammie E. Shelton of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Ida Balance of Newsoms; 15 
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

   A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in McDowell Funeral 
Home by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery.  Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery.

   BOYKINS - A funeral service for Paul Thomas Edwards Sr., was conducted 
Sunday at 2 p.m. in McDowell Funeral Home by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery.  Burial 
was in Beechwood Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Marvin Edwards, Norman Edwards, James F. Edwards, Hurley 
Edwards, James Whitley, Frank Whitley, Joseph Whitley and George Whitley.

   Edwards, 76*, died in Southampton Memorial Hospital early Thursday.

   A native of Southampton County, he lived in Portsmouth three years before 
returning to the county 14 years ago.  He was a son of Joseph S. and Mrs. 
Mollie Turner Edwards.  He was a retired farmer and a member of Boykins 
Baptist Church.

   Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Zelma Bradshaw Edwards; two sons, Paul T.
