Edwards FRANKLIN, Dec. 16 - Percy Bynum Edwards, 57, well-known businessman and resident of Joyners, died suddenly Thursday afternoon while enroute to a Richmond Hospital. He was the son of the late Bynum and Nella [Nelia] Bell Griffin Edwards, of Southampton county, and husband of Jane Burgess Edwards, of Joyners, who survives him. He was a member of Joyners Methodist Church, where he served as a steward and superintendent of the Sunday school for the past thirty years. He served as postmaster for ten years and was a member of Masonic Lodge 85 of Courtland. Besides his wife he is survived two sons, George B. Edwards, Joyners, and Phillip D. Edwards, Emporia; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Dunn, of Joyners, Mrs. Paxina Edwards, of Courtland, and Mrs. Sara Wrenn, of Emporia; five grandchildren: four brothers, Carl F. Edwards, of Joyners, J.D. and M.B. Edwards, of Capron, and L.R. Edwards, of Emporia; three sisters, Mrs. Phillip Blood of Richmond, Mrs. Marshall Johnson, of Emporia, and Mrs. Willie Worrell, of Courtland. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock at Joyner Methodist Church. Rev. J.T. Cassell, pastor, and Rev. L.D. Staples, a former pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery, with Masonic rites.
