All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROY TAYLOR EDWARDS Roy Taylor Edwards, Sr., 62, husband of Mrs. Rennie Grizzard Edwards of Drewryville, died Thursday night, April 26, in McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, after a long illness. Mr. Edwards, a son of the late John Franklin and Mrs. Delia Warren Edwards, was born in Greensville County and was a lifelong resident of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I, and he was a member of Newsoms Lodge No. 128 AF&AM. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Roy T. Edwards, Jr. of Drewryville; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Grizzard of Drewryville and Mrs. Rachel Cooke of Richmond; four brothers, Floyd Edwards of Drewryville, V.M. and Will Edwards of Emporia and Jack Edwards of Richmond; one grandson and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Persons Methodist Church, of which Mr. Edwards was a lifelong member, Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. William Ferguson, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by Rev. William Stennett of Hebron Baptist Church, Rev. Francis Hunt of Monumental Methodist Church, Emporia, and Rev. R.L. Haga of Richmond. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, with Masonic rites at the graveside. Active pallbearers were Raymond, Stuart, Bob, Horace, Paul and P.L.B. Edwards.
