EDWARDS Mrs. Rosa Knight Edwards, the beloved wife of W.T. Edwards of Boykins, died at her home here June 18, in her forth-sixth year. She underwent a serious operation in Sarah Leigh Hospital, Norfolk, last October and although her recovery was slow, her friends were hopeful that she would completely regain her strength until a few weeks ago when other complications set in and she grew rapidly worse until the end. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Knight and Mrs. Kate Carr Knight of this community and was happily married to W.T. Edwards in 1902. Besides her bereaved husband, she is survived by her aged mother, one sister, Mrs. Grace Knight, and three brothers, A.L., H.F. and R.C. Knight, all of Boykins, and by a host of friends. She was a faithful member of the Boykins M.E. Church and until too feeble to attend its services was a valued worker, serving as Sunday school teacher, treasurer of the Parsonage Society, superintendent of the Sunday school Cradle Roll department and was a charter member of the Rosebud Missionary Society, and will be greatly missed by her fellow laborers in the King's business. The funeral services, held the following day, were brief but very appropriate and impressive and were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Porter Hardy, assisted by the other pastors of the town, Rev. A.C. Jordan and H.P. Dalton. The active pallbearers were Paul Edwards, N.S. Beaton, Henry Deloatch, E.R. Bryant, Jas. T. Knight and O.H. Barclay; honorary, W.W. White, H.A. Moore, S.B. Drewry, W.D. Mannes, A.S. Francis, R.T. Andrews E.H. Grizzard, J.D. Ferguson, Frank Knight and Dr. J.M. Bland. The floral decorations were beautiful and fragrant, typical of her beautiful life, well rounded out in the midst of her years. [Rosa Lee (KNIGHT; Mrs. W.T.) EDWARDS, d. 18 Jun 1918, age 46, bd.
