HURLEY EDWARDS Samuel Hurley Edwards, 72, died at his home near Courtland on Thursday afternoon, October 11, at 2:30 o'clock after an illness of several months. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Carrie Lee Myrick Edwards, who survives him, and the son of the late Mills and Elizabeth Cobb Edwards of this county. He was a member of the Capron Baptist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Callaway of Portsmouth; three sons, Emerson Edwards of Courtland, Samuel Edwards, Jr., of Portsmouth, and Sidney Edwards of Conway, N.C.; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services for Mr. Edwards were conducted at the graveside in Capron Cemetery on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by his pastor, Rev. H.B. Jennings. The active pallbearers were Curtis Edwards of Victoria, Luther and Mills Edwards of Norfolk, and Claude and Ryland Edwards and Theon Darden of Franklin.
