Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Roy E. Johnson, on Norfleet Street, Franklin, this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The Rev. H.W. Davis, pastor of Franklin Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mr. Edwards was a son of Mrs. Telitha Whitley Edwards and the late Newitt Calvin Edwards, of Franklin. Surviving besides his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Daisy Nicholson Edwards; one daughter, Miss Evelyn Edwards; one son, Stanley Edwards, all of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. J.V. Milteer, Mrs. C.C. Blythe, Mrs. Roy E. Johnson, and Mrs. Rosie Stephenson, all of Franklin; two brothers, E.L. Edwards, of Washington, and Calvin W. Edwards, of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** SAMUEL ROBERT EDWARDS Samuel Robert Edwards, native of Southampton County, a former Franklin citizen, and for the past 18 years a resident of Norfolk, died in that city Monday morning in his 51st year after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Edwards was a son of Mrs. Talitha Whitley Edwards and the late Newitt Calvin Edwards, of Franklin. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Daisy Nicholson Edwards; one daughter, Miss Evelyn Edwards; one son, Stanley Edwards, all of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. J.V. Milteer, Mrs. C.C. Blythe, Mrs. Roy E. Johnson and Mrs. Roscoe Stephenson, all of Franklin; two brothers, E.L. Edwards of Washington, and Calvin W. Edwards of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was brought to Franklin and funeral services were conducted from the home of his sister, Mrs. Roy E. Johnson, in Norfleet Street Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock by the Rev. Henry W. Davis of High Street M.E. Church, burial following in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were M.G. Councill, E.K. Brinkley, S.W. Lankford, R.C. Branch, Geo. R. Brown and John Beaton of Franklin, Tom Evans and W.B. Graves of Norfolk.
