Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Dr. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Bynum Gay III, W.J.M. Holland III, Carl Steinhardt, Elsworth Jones, J.H. Howerton, J.B. Johnson, Edward Gilliam and G.E. Pillow. Mrs. Edwards, 65, of the Camp Apartments, a former teacher and Franklin’s first librarian, died Wednesday afternoon in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. A native of Covington, she was the widow of John Linwood Edwards and a daughter of George B. and Mrs. Willie Ann Hayes Ricks. She came in 1922 and taught elementary school. She was secretary for the Franklin commissioner of revenue several years. At retirement, she was secretary to the chairman of the executive committee of Union Camp Corp. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, John Linwood Edwards Jr. of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. M.S. Noffsinger of Roanoke and Mrs. D. B. Landis of Covington; a brother, E.C. Ricks of Uniontown, Pa.; and four grandchildren. Virginia Marie (RICKS; Mrs. John L.)
