Funeral services for William Fletcher Edwards, Jr., 71, who died early Saturday morning, August 18, were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Len B. Allen, pastor, officiating. Mr. Edwards, a well-known farmer of the Black Creek community, died at Blue Ridge Sanatorium after an illness of several months. He was the husband of Mrs. Lula Griffin Edwards and the son of the late William F. and Louisa Webb Edwards of Southampton County. He was a member of Black Creek Bapitst Church and its Men's Bible Class. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Smith Lewis of Norfolk and Mrs. Lollie Carr of Bowers Hill; two grandchildren, Mrs. Marion Carroll of Baton Rouge, La., and Wayne Lewis of Norfolk; two great grandchildren; two brothers, C.C. Edwards of Franklin and David S. Edwards of Zuni; a sister, Mrs. Percy Bradshaw of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Active pallbearers were A.C. Carr, Jr., A.E. Drewry, E.A. Drewry, R.R. Bradshaw, Alvin Brock and Charlie Holland.
