WILLIAM ELIAS EDWARDS 

   COURTLAND - A funeral service for William Elias (Will) Edwards was 
conducted Monday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. in his home in Courtland by the Rev. 
Herman Smith and the Rev. Harold Fuss.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery 
with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge.

   Pallbearers were Ben A. Williams Jr., Handy Moore, R.R. Edwards, John 
Rollison Jr., Warren E. Edwards, R.G. Edwards Jr., Edward R. Brooks, R.B. 
Story, Garland Bryant, Dick Clements, T.W. Pittman Jr. and Edwin Cobb.

   Edwards, 87, died Saturday in a hospital.

   A native of Southampton County he was a son of William E. and Mrs. 
Mary Speight Edwards and the husband of Mrs. Allie Williams Edwards.

   He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church; its board of Trustees and 
a retired hardware merchant.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, the Rev. William A. Edwards 
of Wytheville; a brother, Roscoe G. Edwards of Courtland; and two 
grandchildren, Laura B. Edwards, Vandell Hall, Red Spring, N.C.; and W. 
Kinsland Edwards, Wytheville.
