Eley, Franklin merchant, died suddenly Sunday afternoon at Raiford Hospital following an appendicitis operation. Mr. Eley, the son of M.A.* Eley of Isle of Wight County, had been a resident of this town for about 25 years, clerking for the late D.A. Holland for a long period and buying the grocery business of Mr. Holland about three years ago which he conducted in Second Avenue. Mr. Eley, who was in his 43rd year, was an overseas veteran serving with the 29th Division in France. He was unmarried and is survived by two brothers, Clifford Eley of Franklin and Horace Eley of Baltimore.
