All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ISABEL CHRISTINA BARKER ELEY Mrs. Isabel Barker Eley, 63, a resident of Zuni for many years and for the past few months a resident of Courtland, died at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred H. Barker, Tuesday morning, January 3, after an illness of many months. Mrs. Eley was a native of North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Frederick G. and Dora Smithson Barker of Southampton County. She was the widow of Benjamin W. Eley of Zuni and an active member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Leonard W. Eley of Zuni and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home of W.J.M. Holland and Sons. Rev. L.E. Holzback, pastor of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, and Rev. Gordon L. Price, pastor of Roanoke Rapids Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., officiated. Interment was in the Courtland Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Nicholas Barker, Gene Worrell, William Rhodes, Harold West, Edwin Beale, Robert Rollins, Erskine Fraser and Lawrence B. Carr. Isabel Christina (BARKER; Mrs. Benjamin W.)
