"Joe" Eley, Jr., 79, of the 3100 block of Rolen Drive, died July 5, 1997 in local hospital. He was born in Southampton County, Va., and was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Jane Eley. He was retired masonry contractor, a member of Centerary United Methodist Church and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include two brothers, Henry G. Eley of Isle of Wight County, Va. and Raymond W. Eley of Portsmouth. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Thomas Eley and a sister, Mildred Reynolds. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Cofield, Jr. and the Rev. William L. Vann, III. The family will be at Snelling Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Joseph T.
