PRESSLEY L. ELEY

   Pressley L. Eley, 50 years old, died April 14 at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk 
following a short illness of pneumonia.  Mr. Eley was a native of this county, 
being born and reared in the Franklin community.  He had spent the last five 
years preceding his death in Nansemond County, where he was engaged in farming.

   Mr. Eley was the son of the late Joseph Henry Eley and Helen Councill Eley 
of the county.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Cotton Eley; two 
daughters, Misses Margaret and Angie Ann Eley; four sons, Pressley, Lawrence, 
Kenneth and Cary Eley, all of Nansemond; a sister, Mrs. T.A. Gillette of 
Franklin; two brothers, J.L. Eley of Franklin and J.T. Eley of Rescue, besides 
a number of nieces and nephews.

   Services were conducted last Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock at Sycamore 
Baptist Church, the pastor, Rev. F.P. Davis being assisted by Rev. L.F. 
Paulette of Smithfield.  Burial was in the church cemetery with the following 
pallbearers: W.O. Cotton, Dellie Cotton, Pat Cotton, S.W. Lankford, Clarence 
Cobb, Hinton Schram, Rufus Martin and Curtis Griffin.
