Eley, age 50 years, one of the best known residents of South Norfolk, died yesterday afternoon at 1:55 o’clock at his residence, 20 Jackson Street, after a lingering illness. He was son of the late James and Mary Darden Eley of Southampton County, Va., but had been a resident of this section 22 years. He is survived by his widow, Annie V. Eley; one sister, Mrs. Alice Bryant of Courtland, Va., one brother, J.A. Eley of Norfolk. For many years the deceased had been connected with the Virginia Life Insurance Company, and also interested in real estate business in South Norfolk. The funeral service will be conducted at the above residence Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia cemetery. ****************************************************************************** The funeral of William E. Eley, who died at his home, 20 Jackson street, South Norfolk, will take place at the above residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. C.N. Hartness, pastor of the Liberty street Methodist Church will conduct the services and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
