HOLLAND ELLIS Mrs. Gertrude Holland Ellis, a former resident of Franklin and a native of Southampton County, died at her home in Roanoke last Friday morning after a brief illness. Mrs. Ellis was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Virginia Lewis Holland. Surviving her is a sister, Mrs. R.H. Cobb, of Franklin, and the following nieces: Mr. W.A. Moyler, Mrs. R.I. Beale and Mrs. R.J. Howell of Franklin; Mrs. W.W. Miller of Johnson City, Tenn. Mrs. Ellis’ body arrived in Franklin Saturday morning. Services were held at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery here, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Berkley of Roanoke, assisted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. B.B. Bland of High Street Methodist Church, at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Pallbearers were R.J. Howell, Jas. I. Beale, J. Edward Moyler, Dr. Beaman Story, Dr. W.E. Snipes, Jr., C.J. Edwards, L.R.
