He was a native of Southampton County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Ellis; two brothers, J.W. Ellis of Bluefield, W.Va., and Percy Ellis of Emporia; and three sisters, Mrs. L.W. Edwards of Emporia, Mrs. J.R. Livesay of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Mrs. I.C. Fisher of Bluefield, W.Va. Graveside services for Mr. Ellis were conducted in the Capron Cemetery on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. R.H. Marks, assisted by Rev. L.O. Wright. A quartet composed of Mr. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Francis and Mrs. Ethel Marks, sang "The Christian's Good Night." The active pallbearers were J.V. Beale, H.E. Livesay, J.T. Livesay, Wesley Ellis, William Ellis and Joe McKoy.
