All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ PERCY LEONARD ELLIS Percy Leonard Ellis, 75, of Royal Oaks Farm, Sussex County, died March 17 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Funeral service was at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Echol's Funeral Home by his pastor, the Rev. H.A. Moyer, with burial in Capron Cemetery. He was the son of the late Sara Jordan and Thomas Ellis of Southampton County. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Blanche Smith; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Bishop of Bluefield, W.Va., and Mrs. Ethel Livesay of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one brother J. Wesley Ellis of Bluefield, W.Va.; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Ellis was a member of Monumental Methodist Church, Emporia, and the Webb Memorial Bible Class. He served on the board of stewards until his health failed. He joined Capron Methodist Church at an early age and received awards for 14 consecutive years for perfect attendance there. He was a farmer until he retired a few years ago. Pallbearers were E.Q. Murfee, E.W. Harrell, Eugene Whitehead, Julian Mitchell, Stewart Vincent, M.L. Crewe, L.R. Dunn and Edwin Everett. Honorary pallbearers were the member of his Sunday school class.
