Ellsworth, aged 54 years, died at his home near Joyner, Va., Tuesday, September 30. He was born in Southampton County and had been a resident of this county all of his life. Surviving him are his wife and two sons, E.P. Ellsworth, Jr., and Crawford Ellsworth; two daughters, Miss Winnie Ellsworth and Mrs. S.T. Kello of Courtland; two step-daughters, Mrs. O.T. Cromer of Victoria and Mrs. Ira M. Williams of Capron; his mother, Mrs. Louisa Ellsworth of Sedley; three brothers, J.E. Ellsworth of Richmond, W.F. Ellsworth of Sedley and H.E. Ellsworth of Franklin and four grandchildren. The active pallbearers were: H.E., J.E., W.F., Goldie and Frank Ellsworth, Chester and C.N. Hatch and J.L. Pond. Honorary pallbearers were: W.B. Simmons, Jr., T.D. Gardner, P.B. Edwards, Jr., J.Cleveland Judkins, W.F. Felts, Dr. J.N. Applewhite, Dr. James A. Grizzard and Dr. Joel Crawford.
