All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MAUDE POND ELLSWORTH Mrs. Maude Pond Ellsworth of Richmond died on Sunday morning, March 14, in a Richmond hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Ellsworth, a native of Southampton County, was born near Dory on October 16, 1881, and was a member of Barrett’s Christian Church until she moved to Richmond about twenty-seven years ago. She was the daughter of the late William D. Pond and Ada Slade Pond, and the wife of the late Eddie Ellsworth. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Edward Grizzard of Richmond; six sons, William E. Ellsworth, Franklin R. Ellsworth, Chapman P. Ellsworth, Garland D. Ellsworth and Alvin L. Ellsworth, all of Richmond, and Jesse H. Ellsworth of Charlotte, N.C. ; two sisters, Mrs. C.E. Knowles of Petersburg, and Mrs. Fitzhugh Ellis of Wakefield; three brothers, Roger E. Pond of Wakefield and Lonnie J. Pond and Joe L. Pond of Sedley, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Central Methodist Church in Richmond, where Mrs. Ellsworth was a faithful member, by her pastor, the Rev. Beverly Felty. Burial was in Maury Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: E.C. Aldinman, F.W. Grizzard, C.G. Grizzard, F.E. Totty, E.R. Henny, E.R. Martin, J.G. Perkins, and R.J. Hotchkiss.
