All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RICHARD BASKUM EURE Funeral services for Richard Baskum Eure, 71, who died at his home in Suffolk Sunday night, were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. F.C. Lester of Waverly and Rev. N.B. Newman of Holland, former pastors of the deceased and Rev. C.E. Pleasants, pastor of the Oxford Methodist Church of Suffolk. "Rock of Ages" and "How Firm a Foundation" were sung by the member of Franklin Christian Choir, accompanied by J. Edgar Weede. Burial services were held at Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Mr. Eure was a native of Gates County, N.C., and a son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Elisha Eure. He had made his home in Suffolk for the past six months and prior to that time lived in Franklin for 40 years where he was a member and senior deacon of the Franklin Christian Church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sallie Darden Eure; a daughter, Mrs. W.A. Daughtrey, and two grandchildren, Sarah and Nan Daughtrey of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. Laura Knight of Newport News, and a half-brother, T.H. Skinner of Franklin. Active pallbearers were: E.O. Forbes of Norfolk, A. Lee Forbes of Suffolk, George and Floyd Skinner of Emporia, G.P. Darden and W.R. Barnes of Suffolk, A.J. Skinner and Dr. Darden W. Jones of Franklin. The honorary bearers were: J.A. Williams, L.R. Jones, E.P. Jones, E.L. Beale, R.H. Harrell, L.B. Norfleet, W.H. Jones, deacons of the Franklin Christian Church, and Dr. J.E. Rawls, Dr. D.L. Rawls and E.L. Baker of Suffolk, W.H. Norfleet and Geo. I. Earnest of Franklin.
