He was a retired vice president of the Bank of Capron. He was a member of Courtland Masonic Lodge No. 85, Capron Ruritan Club, a member of the board of Raiford Memorial Hospital, and a member of Capron Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Trent Fox; two sons, John E. Jr. and William T. Fox, both of Capron; two daughters, Mrs. John Alfriend Mapp of Norfolk and Miss Marilyn Fox of Capron; a brother, Dr. P. G. Fox of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. M. R. Pace of Richmond, and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Capron Methodist Church. Burial arrangements were incomplete Friday night. ****************************************************************************** Beloved Capron Man Dies Recently J. E. Fox One of the most loved and most active men in the area, J.E. Fox, Sr., aged 57, died recently at the Raiford Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Southampton and for many years of Capron, he was very active in civic enterprises until his death, which came after a four- week illness. He was vice president of the Bank of Capron, a member of the governing boards of the Capron Community Medical Center and the Raiford Memorial Hospital, a member of the Capron Methodist Church, of the Courtland Masonic Lodge No. 85, and of the Capron Ruritan club. For several years he was treasurer of the Southampton county chapter of the American Red Cross, and he was once cashier of the Bank of Capron. His funeral was attended by many. He will be missed not only to his community, but by the entire area.
