N.B. Foushee, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.T. Bryant of Sunbeam Saturday, January 10, in her 76th year. Mrs. Foushee was born May 1, 1854, in Bedford County, Va., near the Peaks of Otter, the daughter of Nicholas W. and Mrs. Sarah Law Robertson, her ancestors being prominent citizens of Pittsylvania and Bedford counties for many years, and was one of a family of 11 children, three brothers surviving, Stanhope, Herbert and Winston Robertson, all of Bedford County. On December 21, 1881, she married Rev. N.B. Foushee, and in almost half a century of happy wedded life with him she was a faithful wife and self- sacrificing mother, always interested in the work of the churches served by her husband, especially in the music and women’s organizations, organizing many missionary societies on his different charges. Mr. Foushee served during a long and worthwhile ministry the circuits of Mt. Pleasant, Bedford Springs, Henrico, Dinwiddie, Newsoms, South Norfolk, South Princess Anne, Wakefield, Mathews, Lawrenceville and Windsor, all of the Virginia Conference, and remained at each place the full four years except at Henrico and Windsor, being superannuated at Windsor in 1923 after three years service there, and is universally beloved through this county and section. Mrs. Foushee’s highest aim in life, which she had so abundantly attained, was to be a good woman, and she made it a rule of her life to read the Bible through once each year, doing this as long as her eyesight permitted. For a number of years she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Bryant at Sunbeam, and is survived by her aged husband and four daughters; Mrs. J.T. Bryant, Mrs. M.J. Railey of Como, Mrs. John W. Bryant of Handsom and Mrs. E.N. Johnson of Ivor. Funeral services were conducted from the Bryant home Monday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. R. Harrison Marks of the Newsoms circuit, assisted by Rev. A.K. Lambdin of Wakefield, Dr. Geo. H. Spooner of Franklin and Rev. T.W. Ogden of Atlee. A large assembly of friends from throughout the county and near-by towns was present, and the pallbearers were: W.E. Beale, E.F. Drake, Dr. B.A. Pope, E. Frank Story, Geo. H. Parker, L.L. Bryant, L.C. Drake, G.A. Fowler, J.H. Hedgepeth, W.C. Rawls, and V.K. Daughtrey. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Lelia Ann (ROBERTSON; Mrs. Nathan B.)
