FELTS FROM THE BOYKINS COLUMN After a lingering illness of about two weeks Mrs. Edwin L. Felts, 70 years old, died at his home here Saturday afternoon at seven o'clock. He was a native of this county and one of our community's best citizens. He was a conscientious Christian, a faithful church worker, a good husband and father, and a man who always took an active interest in whatever pertained to the welfare of his country. He had a gallant record for bravery and devotion to service as a Confederate soldier. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Ruby; one son, Reese; two sisters, Mrs. Z.T. Smith and Miss Emma G. Felts, both of Boykins. The funeral took place in the Methodist Church Monday at 2 p.m. and was conducted by his Pastor, Rev. R.S. Baugham, assisted by Rev. T.M. Green of the Baptist Church. Clark ... ****************************************************************************** RESOLUTIONS OF THE DEATH OF DIRECTOR E.L. FELTS Whereas on Saturday afternoon June 28th, 1913 at five minutes to seven o'clock, after a lingering illness of two weeks, death claimed our worthy friend and faithful Director of Meherrin Valley Bank since its opening in the year nineteen hundred and two. Mr. Felts made it a point to attend every meeting of the Board of Directors when he was able, and always took a deep interest in everything pertaining to the welfare of the institution, and always seemed glad to do anything that he could to advance its business in procuring depositors, and in making friends for the bank. Therefore be it: Resolved 1st, That we, his associates, express our deepest sympathy to his bereaved wife and children, and other relatives; feeling that we have lost one of our best men, both as a director, and as a high type of Christian gentleman. Resolved 2nd, that these resolutions be spread on our minutes, and that a copy be sent to his bereaved wife, and that a copy be sent ot the Tidewater News for publication.
