FELTS Mrs. Laura Gillette Felts, 76, a life-long resident of Southampton County, died in the US Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, on Thursday, July 18, after a long illness. Mrs. Felts was the widow of Robert Lee Felts of Capron and she daughter of the late William John Gillette and Mrs. Nancy Stith Gillette of Southampton County. She was a member of Capron Methodist Church and a graduate of Blackstone Female Institute. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. J. Eugene Jones of Smithfield, Mrs. J. Dall Brown of Mount Holly (Westmoreland County) and Lt. Agnes W. Felts, NC (USN), of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. D.D. Barham, Sr., of Capron; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mrs. Felts were conducted Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Cary family cemetery at "Bonnie Doone," near Capron. Officiating were Rev. R.H. Marks and Rev. David S. Willis of Capron and Rev. William A. Wright of Smithfield. Pallbearers were Ira Barham, Eldridge Felts, Bernard Gillette, Jack Jones, Lon Marks, Paul W. Marks, Will Simmons and Jesse Vick.
