All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSEPH HENRY LELAND FLEETWOOD Joseph Henry Leland Fleetwood, 65, a lifelong resident of Franklin, died suddenly on Friday morning, February 13, at the Fifth Avenue bus station, where he had worked as ticket agent for the past few years. Mr. Fleetwood was a son of the late James Charlton Fleetwood and Anna Maria Powell Fleetwood, formerly of Northampton County, N.C. He attended the local public school, and for several years was employed by the Albemarle Steam Navigation Co., before going into business for himself. He was a member of the Franklin Lodge, A.F. & A.M., and had served that organization as executive secretary for the past 30 years. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. B.A. Brooks of Bath, N.C.; and two brothers, C. Burton Fleetwood of Marion, S.C., and John Vernon Fleetwood of Durham, N.C. Funeral services were held at the graveside in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock with Revs. R.D. Stephenson and Ira D. Hudgins officiating. The burial was with Masonic rites. Pallbearers were Dr. J.P. Broaddus, George R. Brown, C.E. Curren, W.C. Duffy, J.P. King, Sr., Richard H. Rawles, J.F. Sandlin and George O. Watkins.
