She was the widow of the late J.A. Fowler, Franklin contractor. A sudden heart attack caused the death of Mrs. Fowler. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Henry Duck and Miss Ursula Fowler of Franklin, Mrs. J.S. Allen, of Doswell, and Mrs. Paul Cummings of Craddock, and three sons, Joseph Fowler of Doswell, Jack Fowler of Washington, D.C., and A.B. Fowler of Waynesboro, Pa. Three brothers, Hudson and Lynn Councill of Suffolk, Jodie Councill of Norfolk, two sisters, Mrs. Ida Councill of Richmond, and Mrs. Gertrude Weaver of Norfolk. Funeral services will be held from the home on Clay street this afternoon by her pastor, the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and interment in Poplar Spring cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MRS. ADINA C. FOWLER Mrs. Adina Councill Fowler died suddenly from a heart attack at her home in Clay Street early Wednesday morning in her 68th year. Although she had not been in good health for some time, her death was totally unexpected and she survived the attack only a few minutes. Mrs. Fowler, who was a highly estimable woman, a good neighbor and a consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church for many years, was the daughter of the late Captain Joseph G. Councill and Mrs. Indiana Virginia Councill of Isle of Wight County. Her husband, J.A. Fowler, a well-known contractor of this town, died about five years ago. Surviving members of her family are three sons, A.B. Fowler of Waynesboro, Penn., Joseph Fowler of Doswell, Va. and Jack Fowler of Washington; four daughters, Mrs. Henry Duck and Miss Ursula Fowler of Franklin, Mrs. J. Shelby Allen of Doswell, Va., and Mrs. Paul K. Cummins of Cradock, Va. There are several grandchildren, and brothers and sisters of Mrs. Fowler are: J.G. Councill, John Councill, Mrs. Gertrude Weaver and Mrs. Anna Councill Burgess of Norfolk, U.M. Councill and Mrs. Ida Councill of Richmond, Hudson Councill and O.M. Councill of Suffolk, besides a large family connection in the town and community. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock from the residence in Clay Street by her Pastor, the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, favorite hymns being sung by members of the Baptist Church choir, and interment was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: L.J. Fisher, M.H. Moore, Dr. R.L. Raiford, Geo. H. Parker, R.I. Beale, Harry Steinhardt, M.G. Councill and E.C. Smith. Honorary bearers were selected from a number of friends on the family.
