GEORGE ARTHUR FOWLER

   George Arthur Fowler, 65, prominent farmer of Southampton County, died 
Wednesday at Raiford Hospital after an illness of many weeks.

   Mr. Fowler was the son of the late Julius Francis and Mississippi Francis 
Gilliam Fowler, of Southampton county, and husband of Mrs. Nettie Maria 
Fowler, of Handsom.  He was a lifelong resident of Southampton and a member 
of the Woodmen of the World Lodge and for over 50 years a member of Mt. Horeb 
Methodist Church.

   Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Harry Edward Fowler, of 
Handsom; one granddaughter, Ann Shelton Fowler; two brothers, Algie Fowler of 
Handsom; Hunter Fowler of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Susie Britt 
of Courtland, and Mrs. David Story of Petersburg, and a number of nieces and 
nephews.

   Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from his residence 
near Handsom by the Rev. F.L. Baker, assisted by the Rev. C.P. Cleveland. 
Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
