GEORGE RYLAND FOWLER 

   BOYKINS - A funeral service for George Ryland Fowler, 78, of Boykins was 
held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins by the Rev. William 
O. Hudson.

   McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, was in charge.

   Active pallbearers were J.C. Bunn Jr., Bennie Bunn, Harry Shaw, Randolph 
Drake, Randolph Fowler, Joseph Sykes, Braxton Holcombe; Bernard Person Jr., 
and Roland Ellis.

   Fowler died Monday in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.

   A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Ruby Bunn Fowler 
and a son of Randall and Mrs. Anna Gilliam Fowler.

   He was a bookkeeper for Sykes Hatchery, and a member of Boykins United 
Methodist Church.

   Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Annie Laura Sykes of 
Boykins; a brother W.R. Fowler of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Ellis of 
Portsmouth and Mrs. Mary Bryant of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, John D. 
Sykes, Jr.; a great granddaughter, Miss Sandra B. Sykes, both of Lawrenceville.
