He had spent part of the afternoon sowing grass seed on the lawn, and had gone to the living room to watch on television a football game then in progress. His daughter, Dell, was in the room with him. After reclining on a sofa for a short while he attempted to rise. Apparently that was when the seizure struck him, for he collapsed and fell to the floor. Mr. Fowler was the husband of the former Emily Darby Finley, whom he married on August 21, 1934; and the son of the late Joseph A. and Mrs. Adina Councill Fowler of Franklin. He was born December 2, 1908. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1927 he attended the Benjamin Franklin School of Accounting in Washington, D.C. For 15 years he was in the employ of the Federal government as a accountant, first with the Farm Credit Bureau, 1932 - 1944; and then with the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, 1944 - 1947. In 1947 he returned to Franklin to become office manager for S.W. Rawls, Inc., a position he held until his untimely death. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church, a former deacon of the church, and a member of the Bruner Bible Class, the Franklin Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and Cypress Cove Country Club. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, John Daniel Fowler; a daughter, Miss Emily Adelle Fowler; a brother, A. Broaddus Fowler of Charlottesville; and four sisters, Mrs. John S. Allen of Doswell, Mrs. Paul D. Cummins of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Henry Duck and Mrs. Clyde H. Eley, both of Franklin. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland at 3 o'clock by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. Taylor Willis, D.D., rector of Emmanuel Eposcopal Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, a large crowd braving the rain to pay final tribute to their departed friend. Pallbearers were Kemper Daughtrey, Dr. Henry L. Gardner, Jack G. Holland, Edward Moyler, Jr., H.A. Purnell, S.W. Rawls, Jr., Robert H. Steadham and Kenneth B. Trousdell. John Warwick Daniel "Jack" FOWLER, S.W.
