Randolph Gregory, followed by interment in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were Elvin H. Whitley, N.H. Bradshaw, Frank L. Fowler, Leonard Carr, John Norfleet, Streight Boyce, Herbert Fowler and Charlie Arrington. The circumstances surrounding the accident which resulted in injuries fatal to Mr. Fowler are as yet undetermined. All that is definitely known is that Mr. Fowler, 48 years of age and a former employee of the Camp Manufacturing Company, was seen Saturday afternoon sitting on the Seaboard Airline Railway track near the Southern Railway overpass. Later, the engineer of the southbound Seaboard passenger train, which is due to arrive in Franklin at 5:15, reported having seen a body lying beside the track near the overpass. The suggestion has been advanced that Mr. Fowler was struck by an eastbound train; but no train reported such an accident, and there were no eye- witnesses, so far as has been learned. The victim is reported to have suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries, and died without having been able to say what had actually happened. The deceased was the son of the late Quinton W. and Nannie Norfleet Fowler of Isle of Wight County. A lifelong resident of the Franklin community, he was member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Surviving his are his widow, Mrs. Mattie Boyce Fowler of Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Fowler Galtress and Misses Jean and Barbara Fowler, all of Franklin; three sons, James Fowler of Florida and Carroll and Floyd Fowler of Franklin; two grandsons, George Galtress, Jr., and Carroll Fowler, Jr., of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. J.J. Magee of Franklin; three brothers, Hersey N. and Joseph Fowler of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews.
