FULLER NEWSOMS - Mrs. Rosa Lee Bryant Fuller, 83, died Saturday in a Newport News hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Thevelious [sic*; Theophilus] and Mrs. Sarah Jane B. [sic; Worrell] Bryant and the widow of William H. Fuller. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Eunice Story of Newsoms; two sons, Thomas B. Johnson of Portsmouth and Ryland O. Johnson of Holland; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held today (Monday) at 3:30 p.m. in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Carl Lee Ousley of Newsoms Baptist Church. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will meet at the funeral home after the service. BRYANT, son of William & Maria BRYANT, 1m. 16 Aug 1866 widow Temperance J. BRYANT, daughter of Exum BRYANT. (M.Reg. p. 18 #83; MB1A:134) However, the bride seems identical with Temperance, daughter of John & Priscilla BRYANT, who m. 18 Dec 1856 Davis P. BRYANT, son of Exum & Charlotte [FITZHUGH] BRYANT. (M.Reg. p. 4 #10) Davis apparently enlisted in the Confederate Army, as he d. of measles Aug 1862 "In Camp." Widowed, Theophilus D. BRYANT, son of William & Mariah, 2m. 22 Dec 1873 Sarah Jane WORRELL, daughter of Tite & Eveline, in Southampton Co. (M.Reg. #104; MB2:207) "Tite" seems identical with James WORRELL, Jr., who m. 13 Jan 1848 "Evyline" WORRELL. (M.Reg. pp. 569, 715) The 1900 Census - Boykins Dist., Southampton Co. - gives b. Feb 1886. She is buried with her first husband Robert Oscar JOHNSON.
