He was the husband of Mrs. Ruby Louise Gregory Fowler and the son of Jeston and Betty Duck Fowler of Southampton County, of which he was a lifelong resident. Surviving are his widow; seven sons, William Joseph Fowler, Jr., Charles R. Fowler and David J. Fowler of Suffolk; Rochelle Fowler and Claude Edward Fowler of Franklin and Daniel Lee Fowler and Willie Carol Fowler of Newsoms; a stepson, Oscar McClenny of Courtland; four daughters, Mrs. Viola Johnson of Franklin, Mrs. Edna Gunn and Mrs. Della Gunn of Petersburg and Miss Barbara Ann Fowler of Newsoms ; a sister, Mrs. Emma Johnson of Suffolk; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr., of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
