"Jay" Finley Jr., 90, died Nov. 19, 2000, at his home. Born in Charleston, S.C., he was a son of the late J.J. and Mary Darby Finley and the widower of Ethel Rowe Kirkland Finley. A 1928 graduate of Franklin High School, Mr. Finley was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Accounting Department of Union Camp Corp. He was a 56 year member of American Legion Post 73, a member of Franklin Lions Club and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Survivors include two sons, William K. Finley of Greensboro, N.C., and J.J. Finley, III and his wife, Frances, f Waldorf, Md.; two grandchildren, J.J. Finley, IV and Darby Elizabeth Finley. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister, Charles Finley and Emily F. Fowler. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Edmund Pickup officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home and suggests that memorials be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 146, Franklin, to American Legion Post 73, P.O. Box 873, Franklin, or to the Franklin Lions Club, P.O.
